As you all know, Ramadhan is approaching rapidly with Zanzibari’s and Muslims all over the world preparing themselves for their annual fast. During the month of Ramadhan Zanzibar’s blood reserves usually reach an all year low as donations are not accepted from those participating in the Holy Month.
As such, the Blood Bank of Zanzibar together with ZanAid Clinic and the support of Fumba Town Development have organised a blood drive to increase the blood reserves for the critical period of Mid-May to June. We are very thankful for the 97 donors who donated blood last Friday, their efforts will prove vital in keeping the island’s reserves at an adequate level during this mid-year period.
We we’re also very pleased that his Hon. Hamad Rashid Muhamed with his Deputy Bi Harusi came and give a very inspiring speech for all the attendants this past Friday. He stressed the importance of regular exercise and healthy food and even took our very own Fumba Town Service Center as a positive example for food production on a small sized farm which anyone could replicate at his or her home!
